Promosedia International Design Competition
Since 1997 Promosedia has dedicated much attention to young design through the Promosedia International Design Competition - Caiazza Memorial Challenge. What had begun as a short term exploration of Italian young design, gradually took on a wider role. As from year to year the requests to participate grew, as well as the competition’s fame, Promosedia’s commitment to make it a permanent picture of innovative international young design grew at the same rate.
The raw material suggested by the competition rules was wood – and it could not be otherwise considering the competition originated in an area whose initial strength lay in that very material. The young entrants explored and submitted designs according to very personal research and expressions. This very creative force expressed by the designs establishes the competition as the experimental stage, releasing new intuitive functions and aesthetics, a bridge between the world of young design and the world of industry.
Over the years, the Jury of the Promosedia International Design Competition - Caiazza Memorial Challenge has boasted major names of international design - Sebastian Bergne, Cini Boeri, Pierluigi Cerri, Michele De Lucchi, Stefano Giovannoni, Massimo Iosa Ghini, James Irvine, Alberto Meda, Marco Romanelli, Paolo Ulian, - and of specialised press, including: Abitare (I), Gd'A (I), Domus (I), Ottagono (I), FX (GB), and Wallpaper (GB).
