Observeur du Design Award

The APCI (Agency for the Promotion of Industrial Creation) launched Observeur du Design Award aimed at companies in all sectors of business, design consultancies or freelance designers, as well as local or private organisations.

Inaugurated in 1999 by the APCI (Agency for the Promotion of Industrial Creation), the Design Observeur is an annual exhibition that aims to highlight and reward a selection of the best creations resulting from the collaboration between companies and designers.

UdK Award For Interdisciplinary Art And Science

Organization: Berlin University of the Arts

The Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) is one of the biggest, most traditional institutions of advanced artistic education in the world. It has the right to award doctorates and post-doctoral lecturing qualifications and offers more than 40 study courses covering the full spectrum of the arts and related academic fields. Art and science are moving towards one another, discovering common issues and working methods. The creative, imaginative processes in the arts and sciences are similar, whereas the concrete realisation of their results tends to differ. Repeatedly, this difference is the source of productive tension and areas of friction. In all disciplines of the arts and sciences, further developments over recent decades have been characterised by mutual influences and efforts at differentiation. Today, traditional dividing lines between the spheres can no longer be maintained; they are being newly defined and presented in their permeability. This international competition aims to give the impetus and opportunity to artists (fine art, media, architecture, design, music, theatre, visual communication etc.) and scientists to work between the priorities of the arts or between the arts and science. No entry fee.

The Design Exchange Awards promote Canadian design excellence and recognizes the critical role of design in all types of organizations including commercial entities (large and small businesses), not-for-profit organizations, and the public sector. The Awards celebrate the success stories achieved through close partnerships between clients and designers. The DXAs are Canada’s only award program to judge design by results, balancing function, aesthetics, and economic success.
